Parole Straniere

There are plenty of words that we have in English that Italians want to use, too.

And for the most part, they don’t change them at all, meaning that plenty of words in English are added to the Italian dictionary each year.

Below you’ll find a list of those words.

Some have Italian equivalents and some don’t, so it’s up to you to choose when to use either one.

— Guardiamo lo spettacolo Il Diario di una Superstar Nerd oggi! – Let’s watch Diary of a Nerd Superstar today!

3.) Hotdog

— Hai mai provato un hotdog? – Have you ever tried a hotdog?

4.) Hamburger

— No. Ma mi piacciono gli hamburger. – No but I like hamburgers.

5.) Hotel

— Hai scelto un hotel per le vacanze? – Have you chosen a hotel for the vacation?

6.) Cupcake

— Vorrei qualcosa di dolce da mangiare…come una cupcake! – I would like something sweet to eat…like cupcakes!

7.) Check-in

— Di cosa ho bisogno per il check-in? – What do I need in order to check-in?

8.) Fast food

— McDonalds? Lo chiamiamo fast food, come voi. – McDonalds? We call it fast food, like you.

— Può navigare in Internet con il mouse del computer. – You can navigate the Internet with the mouse on the computer.

13.) Whiskey

— Vorrei un whisky senza ghiaccio.– I would like a whiskey without ice.

CPF: When you ask for a drink from a specific brand and you want it alone, without ice or anything else, they also say “liscio” Ad esempio: “Un whiskey liscio per favore”.

14.) Jeans

— Mi piace il tuo jeans! Dove l’hai comprato? – I like your jeans! Where did you buy them?

— Ti piacciono gli sport…come il calcio o il basketball? – Do you like sports…like soccer or basketball?

— Domani manderò un’email per il corso su Dante! – Tomorrow I will send you an email about the Dante course.

17.) Selfie

— Facciamoci un selfie! – Let’s take a selfie!

18.) Weekend

— Quali programmi hai per questo weekend? – What plans do you have for this weekend?

19.) Sexy

— Perché sei tanto sexy? – Why are you so sexy?

20.) Ex

— Il mio ex è fastidioso da morire. – My ex is annoying me to death.

21.) Pub

— Ti va di venire al pub stasera? – Do you want to go to the pub tonight?

22.) TV

— Non vorrei andare al cinema stasera. Voglio guardare la TV. – I would not like to go to the movies tonight. I want to watch TV.

23.) Jogging

— Domani mattina faccio jogging perché mi piace tenermi in forma. – Tomorrow morning I’m going jogging because I want to be in shape.

24.) Bed and Breakfast

— Hai alloggiato in un bed & breakfast ad Orvieto? -Did you stay at a bed & breakfast in Orvieto?
